Journalist Akhil Poddar’s father passes away

Amal Krishna Poddar, father of eminent journalist Dr Akhil Poddar, died in his residence at Baraichara village in Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia district on Saturday. He was 79.

                                                                         
Amal Krishna had been undergoing treatment at a hospital after suffering a heart attack about two and a half months ago.

Akhil Poddar, former Chief News Editor of Ekushey Television, said his father breathed his last around 2pm. Amal Krishna Poddar is survived by two sons, two daughters, and a host of well-wishers.
Different organisations, including Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB), Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, School of Humanism, and Baul Sadhak Amad Ali Saiji Seba Songho, have expressed deep sorrow at his death and extended heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.
